Ablevision will host its inaugural international film festival on Friday the 17th May in the Droichead Arts Centre, Stockwell Lane, Drogheda. In the morning there will be workshops on the independent film making process by local film director Frank Kelly. Grainne Tinney and team from Prosper Fingal services will deliver a very interesting workshop on communication. In the main theatre we will be showing films made by people with intellectual disability from Ireland and beyond. The morning session will run from 10.00 a.m. to 12 p.m. Entry is €2 and proceeds go to Ablevision Ireland.
We are delighted to welcome the cast and crew from Sunbeam House in Wicklow who will host an afternoon workshop on building collaborative partnerships in film making. They will also be showing their most recent production and will be available afterwards for questions and answers. The crew of Ablevision Ireland will also be on hand to discuss their experiences so far in the film making world and show their first documentary “Through the same lens”. The afternoon session will run from 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. and will be of interest to people with intellectual disabilities, their supporters and media students who are interested in working in collaboration to produce films.
We hope to have visitors from every county and beyond and we also have a very special guest Alisa Carbone, executive producer, with Ablevision USA. If you are interested in coming on the day to watch a film, take part in a workshop or even perhaps show a film that your group has worked on then please contact Audrey on firstname.lastname@example.org . More details on the schedule will be available in the coming weeks on the website and on our Facebook Page www.facebook.com/Ablevision-Ireland.com .
